Alberto Coppini

Alberto Coppini was born in Florence on April 15, 1962. Shaping his artistic skills from an early age, he was only 10 years old when he entered the workshop of master Giachetti Giancarlo, known as "Puccio", where he mastered the art of metalworking, reproducing fish and birds in various forms. On the banks of the Arno, he was handed down a passion for fishing which led him to learn about different countries, waters and fish, and was to affect the style of his works. He attended the Art Institute of Porta Romana in Florence and at a very young age, participated in various competitions organised by the Municipality of Florence, receiving three awards for sculpture.

In 1982, he won the "Jugend Gelstatten, Bayer München" prize. In 1985, he participated in the artistic event "Fire-enze" ("Fire in Florence"), conceived and directed by Mario Mariotti. This experience gave rise to a combination of sculpture and music, a prelude to a series of shows, and the creation of a work in collaboration with various musical groups that give life to the performances: MUSICAIMPRESSA.

In 1988, he represented the Corneliani company at Pitti Uomo in Florence and won the "Pitti Immagine Uomo" prize. In 2004, at Castel di Sangro in the province of L'Aquila, Alberto created the first national monument to fly fishermen and from 2004 to 2009 the International "Fly Fisherman of the Year" Award. In 2006 he participated in the twinning of the International Museum Stanisla Kukhiewiz in Castel di Sangro, and the American Museum of Fly Fishing in Manchester, Vermont, USA.

Maestro Coppini also participated in the twinning of the rivers Sangro and Battenkill, Cambridge, NY. In 2012 and 2013, he created the International "Claudio D'Angelo Awards" Prize in Castel di Sangro, Eagle. On several occasions, he represented the City of Florence and the Italian State abroad.

Alberto Coppini has had solo and group exhibitions in various countries around the world, including the United States, Japan, France, Germany and Switzerland. His work is also in the Gallery of Modern Italian Art in London, the Hokkaido Metals Museum in Sapporo, the Alfa Romeo Museum of Arese in Milan, the Borromeo Park of Cesano Maderno in Milan and the Argin Grosso Church in Florence.

All sculptures made by Maestro Alberto Coppini are in cut, wrought and strictly hand-forged iron. Each work is therefore an absolutely unique and unrepeatable piece. The works come to life from sheet metal and the few joints present in the assembly of the various pieces testify to the originality of the technique used. Colouring comes from the exclusive use of colours that last over time. Some pieces are dipped in gold and silver and then hand-painted; other works remain natural in the colour of iron and polymer-treated to ensure their shine and protection against oxidation. In addition to the works in the catalogue, exclusive works in the field of household and gift items and furnishings can be commissioned.
